Our project budgets typically range from $50,000 to $500,000+ depending on the scope of the project. An average project for us however is around $150,000.
We utilize our full scope of design knowledge and years of experience working in the many facets of the landscape design/build profession. Our unique services for upscale projects are the use of 3D photorealistic design which gives our clients an opportunity to visualize our ideas in their yard.
We say we play well in the sandbox, which translates to the fact that we want to draw on the expertise of other professionals involved in a project to deliver the highest value for our clients. We work through design changes in a timely manner with architects and our construction team to address issues efficiently and effectively.
We offer our clients authentic and genuine designs and materials to build their projects. Every project because it is outside in the environment is so different and requires unique and well-thought-out solutions. Unlike a home or other structure, a landscape must be uniquely designed and built to respond to not only our client’s property but in response to offsite conditions such as stormwater, viewsheds, odors, noise, etc. Our team of designers has experience in providing solutions to many of these conditions that address and often enhance the project's success.
We continue to seek our practices and other like-minded professionals who offer new science and technologies to benefit not only our landscape projects but the overall health of the environment as well.
The Sandhills of North Carolina have a range of architectural styles due to the various areas of the country, and even world, our residents have relocated from to live in our beautiful community. We seek our client’s vision for their property from the outset of a project. This means that we want to know if they would like their project to indeed match their existing architecture, complement it, or be designed in a completely different style altogether. Often this depends on a client’s ideas for how they have been working to transform their property over time, or their vision for how they would like to see it change in the future. Our team of designers and craftsmen have a lot of experience with rural/equestrian estates, traditional colonial and craftsman styles, and historic, rustic, and even modern design themes. Each is very project, client, and site-specific.
Yes! These specific features are where we shine as a design/build team of professionals. Often we look for various and innovative ways to connect and embellish the landscape using pools, fire features, outdoor lighting, white noise, music, and architectural features like pergolas and pavilions.
We see complex terrain and other challenging site conditions such as building setbacks, impervious surface limitations, historic district regulations, and existing old-growth vegetation as unique features that require a talented eye for design opportunity rather than a negative or a constraint. We often look to utilize these conditions to anchor or enhance our design concepts rather than to let them stifle our creativity. These site challenges then are carefully spelled out in our designs and when handed off to our team of landscape construction professionals they are keenly aware of the important and unique aspects that must be paid attention to throughout the project.
Upscale projects lead us to utilize natural, genuine, and often timeless materials and finishes. It is in the installation of these elements that are true level of craftsmanship shines through. Our design/build teams have a keen eye for the details, as they matter, to the overall success of the project.
We arrange for a visit with our Owner, Jeremy Rust who is a licensed landscape architect and landscape contractor in North Carolina. The initial site visit to our client’s property tends to last about an hour where we sit and listen first to what the client has in mind for their property as well as any known challenges and/or important goals they have in mind. We assess the input from the client as well as our observations of the site itself to suggest the start of a formal design process which kicks off with the signing of a Design Services Agreement that guides the elements of the design challenge as well as the project’s budget and timeline for permitting and completion. Though the design process we invite clients to meet with our design team in our professional office and showroom to review their design concepts and renderings. Following this meeting, our design team receives our client’s comments and feedback to make additional revisions and or prepare construction drawings for permitting and eventual construction.
We utilize a host of drafting and rendering programs unique to our client’s needs to clearly share our concepts with them. Our team of designers realize that some clients may only ever do a project of this scope once or twice in their lifetime and we work tirelessly to make sure they understand our design and can envision their investment before the first shovel goes in the ground.
Our team of designers realize that some clients may only ever do a project of this scope once or twice in their lifetime and often this step of the project can be intimidating as well as daunting. We rely on our efficient and effective design process to prepare a project for our clients that meets their dreams and can be permitted through the appropriate review bodies. Review bodies that we often work with include local municipal building and zoning officials, state and federal officials, homeowner associations, and their architectural review bodies. We work hard as a design team to stay abreast of the ever-changing ordinances, rules, and processes for successfully navigating the shifting tides of the regulatory review bodies that have jurisdiction over a project.
Yes, our experienced design and project management professionals visit our project sites almost daily, but when they are not they stay in constant contact with project professionals who have boots on the ground throughout the day. Before a design/build project begins our design team takes great care to introduce our team of professionals who will be working on their project. This is done to make sure our clients know they have a constant line of communication with our design team, day and night, to handle any questions or concerns that come up.
Our approach is holistic in nature. Our design/build process begins with a site analysis to help our design team envision all phases of the project including, demolition (removals) and disposal, and our approach to water management on the property through proper grading and drainage piping. We consider as part of grading the need for hardscape elements such as retaining walls and horizontal surfaces including patios, decks, pools, etc. Both existing features on the property as well as new features we are adding can be enhanced by landscape elements such as trees, shrubs, perennials, and sod. Care has to be given to landscape elements through design, layout, and even irrigation. Often landscape and other special features such as pools and pergolas/pavilions can be highlighted at nighttime with tastefully designed and installed outdoor lighting. Goals for our high-end design projects include care to the existing and its preservation, authenticity, timelessness, and carefully built to stand the test of the elements and time.
Payment terms are dependent on the project specifics. Sometimes a larger deposit is required up front for specialty or custom materials, but rarely do we collect more than 50% of the contract value before work begins on a project. The remaining payments then are uniquely spread across the timeline of the project and spelled out in the contract before any work begins.
Yes, all work is guaranteed for up to one year to be free of manufacturer’s and/or installer defects.
